March 8th, 2025 - "It was a good day."
Last night was one of my favorite nights that I've lived!
For context, I am a college radio DJ, but I haven't really talked much about it in fear of leaking my identity, but I honestly don't really care rn. Anyway, my college radio station hosts these annual Battle of the Bands at a venue called NoFun, and the one last night was definitely one of my favorite shows I've ever gone to. The music was mostly different flavors of indie rock/garage rock, and while I'm a fan of different flavors of indie rock and garage rock, I've only ever gone to hardcore shows where the energy is at a maximum at all times. I was afraid that the show would be kinda boring, but to my surprise, I had a really good time! One of the bands on the bill was added last minute because another band dropped out last minute, and they absolutely KILLED it. Shoutout Pink Lady. I even got a shirt of theirs because they really brought the type of energy that I really enjoy when going to shows. Especially shoutout the guy who just played tambourine, that guy was chill and even when into the crowd at times!
It was so fun to see my friends at the radio station enjoying the performances. It was also really funny how I joked that I'd crowdkill at the show (I don't like hitting people at all, and I don't typically partake in crowdkilling), because I didn't expect there to be any moshing at all, but we did get a push pit going at times, and I was able to two-step, so it was pretty awesome. I was absolutely drenched it sweat after because A.) Lot of moving bodies all coming together and B.) NoFun can get really hot at times.
Each band really brought their own personalities to the venue, especially in the case of Happy Birthday, James, who literally had a friend of theirs be a clown, make balloon animals, blow bubbles, throw rainbow streamers, and she even joined in the push pit at times. It was also fun to have Happy Birthday, James play because my friend James' birthday was the next day (today!), so they shouted him out. Happy Birthday, James ended up winning the event, which means they got a cool championship belt that some members of the station made and they will open for our radio station's spring show in April.
I like going to shows generally because I feel like they take away all my anxieties and worries in the world. I don't have to think about my problems because I am able to truly achieve a good time. I have a fear of crowded places, but all of that goes away, and I kinda lose my individuality and become a part of the crowd instead of being scared.
After the show I and a frew friends went on a car trip to Taco Bell, which at first was car trip to McDonald's, but then they didn't have any food that wasn't breakfast, and a friend of mine in the car doesn't like breakfast food (also, it's quite strange to serve breakfast at midnight in my opinion, but oh well). It was a fun trip, and I got to hang out a bit with my friends in the radio station, so it was a really good time overall.
TL;DR: I had a lot of fun at my radio station's Battle of the Bands and then had Taco Bell with some friends.
P.S.: The autism in me got an idea while writing this to make a section specifically for my favorite days/nights that I've lived! That might be a stupid idea, but honestly, let me know if you'd like to see something like that. I have incredible memory when it comes to things I never want to forget, such as incredible nights like these!
P.P.S.: I don't think I mentioned this, but a friend of mine gave me a camera because I've talked to him about my interest in photography, so maybe I'll include a photography section of this site eventually (after I develop the photos of course).
